Dr Klein has treated my carpal tunnel and trigger finger problems for over 5 years, and he has done wonders.
I cannot recommend him highly enough.  He is the "go to" guy in Santa Cruz for hand/wrist/arm problems.

Dr. Klein is the total professional. By training, temperament and technique, Dr. Klein is at the top of his game. I was more than totally satisfied with the procedure I received and the personal care I got. I can't say enough for him and would recommend him to ALL. He is outstanding!

Dr. Klein and his office assistant, Brianna, expedited an overdue wrist surgery that another doctor had said didn't need surgery. Without their prompt response, my wife's wrist would probably have been severely limited down the road with unnecessarily severe arthritis.

I can't say enough how grateful we are to Dr. Klein and Brianna for their compassion, service, and professionalism.

I'd give them 10 stars if I could.

Preface:  I have Dupuytren's contracture, a common genetic disorder that results in my inability to fully extend my ring and little fingers.  It is a chronic disorder and all the treatment options mostly result in temporary freedom of movement.  When it got bad enough to interfere with my function, I had open fasciotomy surgery by a different hand surgeon (not Dr. Klein) who was excellent.  But, I was incapacitated for 4 weeks post-op, it hurt like hell, and as is often the case, my contracture was worse after fully healing. So I looked for a physician who does a release technique called "needle aponeurotomy". (You can look it up on Google) Like the other techniques, NA may not be a durable fix, (it may be the least durable), but it is close to painless, minimally invasive, and only limits hand use for a day or three. That's what I wanted. But, it turns out that physicians are not paid well for NA compared to the other methods (open surgery or enzyme injections) of cutting the fibrous cords in the hand and, thus, few hand specialists offer NA.  I was sitting on a recommendation from my prior hand surgeon to have enzyme injections, but it sounded to gnarly and risky.

My wife found Dr. Klein because she had injured her thumbs. I was with her for her visit and asked Dr. Klein, "Oh, by the way, do you do NA?" He said "I do.", and took a peek at my crooked finger.  I returned that week. He was very kind and thorough explaining the entire procedure. The procedure is done in the office with a simple injection needle. It was fast and painless. I was waxing my car the next day. That was two months ago; my little finger remains fully straightened out.

I was very impressed that Dr. Klein set aside the financial incentive to do the more costly and invasive techniques, and did the simplest effective treatment. As well, he took time with me to discuss the alternatives in detail, knowing this is a chronic and recurring ailment. I found him to be compassionate, very smart, exceedingly well trained, and a steady hand. I am a Registered Nurse with a long acute care hospital career. I know good care when I see it.

Great Doctor.  Fixed my dupuytren contracture with one office visit.  No surgery and no pain.

I'm not a very nice patient and it takes a lot to to calm my fear of doctors. I worried needlessly. Immediately after surgery, I was given Dr Klein's home and cell numbers and was told to call him directly if I had any questions or problems! What a luxury, to be able to speak directly with my surgeon at any sign of trouble! Of course, I had no trouble. Dr Klein set my two spiral fractures so perfectly that at 8 weeks from surgery, almost no evidence of a break could be seen. At three months, I now have 90% of my mobility. (A note to all: physical therapy is a MUST post hand surgery!)

The office is always calm and on time. Xrays are done in the office and immediately available. The new office has plenty of parking. I received the best care at the surgical center that I have ever received --and I have had several major surgeries including two hip replacements.

Hand surgery is a tricky business; I recommend Dr Klein without reservation.

Over the past few years, Dr. Klein has performed four separate successful surgeries on my hands.  From the first, I have been confident in his knowledge, skill and communication on the issues I've had.  Dr. Klein has provided excellent follow-up care; he is always courteous and professional and I would not hesitate to consult with him for future treatment, including surgery, and would highly recommend him to anyone in need of care.  Also, the surgical staff thinks very highly of him!

Please do your research before seeing an Orthopedic Surgeon. I did. My wife and I have had numerous health issues over our long lives and so I have learned a lot about choosing a competent doctor. I have been seeing Doctor Klein for over a year now and I feel that he is an outstanding physician and surgeon. And he is also a kind and caring man.

My first visit was perfect. Doctor Klein first x-rayed my hands in his office. Then we spent quite a bit of time discussing all of my treatment options, including possible surgery. We decided that we would start with a series of cortisone injections in the hopes that it may give some relief from my pain. I did not want to take any more pain medications. Well, the injections worked. I no longer have extreme pain in my hands and wrists!

Doctor Klein is extraordinary! My entire life has been changed for the better! I highly recommend Doctor Klein!

Dr. Klein has been extremely helpful for the recuperation of my thumb after a power tool accident. His calm demeanor and wise council for making sure I gained the best possible outcome were very helpful during a stressful period of uncertainty. I am very grateful for his expertise.

I was referred by my M.D. to see Dr. Klein for a lump on my right hand.  It had gotten larger and was causing discomfort.  I contacted Dr. Klein's office and the receptionist was courteous and helpful.

I met with Dr. Klein and he was knowledgeable and thorough. He had a calming manner and took time to explain my options and to fully answer my questions. He treated me with respect and did not rush me.

I'm thrilled that my surgery went very well and my hand is healing beautifully. It's obvious to me that Dr. Klein is passionate about his work and dedicated to providing positive outcomes for his patients. He is a meticulous and excellent surgeon and a very kind man.  Thank you Dr. Klein!

This delightful hand-specialist is a caring, competent doctor and a lovely person. I have seen him a number of times and am always impressed by his humble, easy way. He has administered cortisone shots to my hands, as well as one carpal-tunnel surgery, which turned out fine.

HIGHLY recommend!

Dr. Klein performed surgery on my hand a few years ago and did a great job. He is an amazing surgeon, very compassionate and incredibly dedicated to his patients. Seriously.

I'm going back to him for another hand problem. He's The Man.
